Regional Veterinary Referral Center - Emergency/Critical Care Department – Licensed Veterinary Technicians

Shifts Available: 7 am - 7:30 pm (Fixed days, higher compensation for weekends)
Purrfect Candidate: We prefer candidates with LVT or LVT-VTS credentials or students currently in Veterinary Technician school, with 1+ years of experience in urgent, emergency or critical care.
Responsibilities:
- Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, zoonotic diseases, and unpleasant odors.
- Perform diagnostics such as phlebotomy, cystocentesis, in house laboratory testing (CBC’s, blood chemistries, urinalysis, SNAP tests, blood typing, cross matching) blood pressures and radiographs. , take vitals, use and perform medical math
- May include some lifting or carrying (up to 50 lbs). Will include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Maintain medical records by documenting patients’ conditions, reactions, and changes; updates database in an accurate and timely manner.
- Maintain equipment by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining equipment supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
- Using critical thinking to work positively as a team player; remaining calm and professional while effectively problem solve.
- Exhibits excellent customer service skills when engaging with clientele.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor, Hospital Manager or Medical Director as needed.
Compensation: We feel that pay should coincide with credentials, experience, shift commitment and work ethic ($25-42 based on leveling system). We also offer a sign on bonus!

Position Overview:
The Emergency Technician Trainer is a full-time position that focuses on training, mentoring, and compliance of developing veterinary nurses/technicians and assistants to ensure the highest standards of patient care. Must lead the team by example by demonstrating organizational skills, following company policies, and maintaining a professional attitude.
Essential Functions:
- Stays up to date on all protocols and ensures staff compliance through training and mentoring.
- Corrects and/or praises staff on performance during shift
- Implement training on the safety of staff and patients while following the hospital safety guidelines.
- Ensure staff are compliant with charging protocols to allow clients to receive proper financial updates.
- Maintain a balance of 80-90% hands-on training-focused work and 10-20% administrative duties
- Requires hands-on involvement in daily hospital operations
- Create, update, and deliver training programs for veterinary technicians and assistants, including instructional content, manuals, and online resources to support learning
- Collaborate with team leads to assess training needs and develop improvement plans
- Foster a culture of critical thinking and leadership amongst the staff
- Conduct 1:1 training sessions, group workshops, and hands-on coaching
- Train staff on in house laboratory and equipment
- Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, performance reviews, and direct observations
- Work with the Hospital Manager, Medical Director, Team Leads, and veterinarians to align training programs with hospital goals
- Assist with recruiting and onboarding new licensed veterinary technicians (LVTs/RVTs) and veterinary assistants
- Administrative duties as delegated by the Hospital Manager and Medical Director.

The Regional Veterinary Referral Center is looking for an Emergency Veterinarian to join our amazing team, and work just 2 weeks out of every 6!
The RVRC is centrally located near Washington DC and receives referrals from across the Mid-Atlantic region. We offer specialty care in cardiology, emergency/critical care, internal medicine, surgery, dermatology, neurology, radiation oncology, medical oncology and rehabilitative medicine with a licensed veterinary physical therapist. In addition to our specialties, our center houses an I-131 treatment center (Radiocat), ultrasound, digital radiography, linear accelerator, CT and an MRI unit. Also, our in house diagnostic center allows you to get rapid and accurate patient analytic data to make informed patient decisions.

The RISE Mentorship Program is a rotational, immersion & skill-building, experience structured to support the transition from academia into clinical practice. Participants will be paired with an experienced mentor, while they practice medicine and manage their own caseload. Participants will move through the program with a nationwide cohort providing an added layer of peer mentorship and the foundation for a professional network. At the conclusion of the program, a one-year contract will be extended for you to continue full-time with continued mentor support
Who is this program for?
- New or Recent veterinary school graduates who are passionate about practicing high quality medicine and learning on the job, while developing new skills and strengths under the guidance of an experienced veterinarian
- Veterinary school graduates who are unsure whether they would prefer to go the ER or GP route
What is the program?
- Full-Time opportunity for you to practice medicine, learn on the job, and have additional support through a structured mentorship
- You will have the option between a 6-month rotational mentorship program (3 months in GP and 3 months in ER), or a 3-month mentorship (either GP or ER)
- Salary: $100,000 plus the opportunity to earn production and pay increase as you transition into your full-time associate role

Position Overview:
The Emergency Team Lead is an acting supervisor who performs the duties of medical technical staff and is the point of contact for the team to expedite the care and efficiency of the department. In charge of client and patient care standards for the department during their shift. Must lead the team by example by demonstrating organizational skills, following company policies, and maintaining a professional attitude.
Essential Functions:
- Addresses concerns of staff and doctors while on duty and responds appropriately or directs concerns to the department manager or hospital manager if needed
- Stays up to date on all protocols and trains staff on shift, on all appropriate training, procedural, and protocol guidelines for the team and ensures staff compliance during shift.
- Corrects and/or praises staff on duty for performance during shift
- Ensure the safety of staff and patients and follow the hospital safety guidelines during an emergency.
- Troubleshoot equipment as needed and keep the equipment manager and Hospital Manager informed of necessary repairs/replacements.
- Ensure charges are correct throughout the shift to allow clients to receive proper financial updates.
- The beginning shift assessment of all patient status, history, current treatments and verifying that all treatments match the doctor's orders.
- Administrative duties as delegated by the Hospital Manager and Medical Director.
