Hulu was recently rescued by Homeless Animal Rescue Team. He is an adorable bundle of energy. However, he was quickly found to have a problem. His breathing seemed a little labored. After being evaluated and X-rayed by the referring veterinarian, he was found to have a diaphragmatic hernia. The tear in his diaphragm (a condition that is usually caused by a traumatic injury) had allowed his abdominal organs to move into his chest cavity and partially collapse one of his lungs. Hulu was pretending that nothing was wrong!
He had surgery here at The Regional Veterinary Referral Center with Dr. Greg Griffin and his team. His surgery was a success. We were able to return all his organs to their proper locations and repair the tear in his diaphragm. Hulu spent a few days hospitalized in the ICU, and made a very good recovery from surgery.
Hulu is now in excellent health and has recently been adopted.
